Nature’s stewardship growing a mutual relationship to co-exist and flourish in harmony
This community consultation is being undertaken on behalf of Barony NP (UK) Ltd, to engage and inform the local community of a proposed eco-therapy wellness development, located on the site formally known as the Barony Colliery, Barony Road, near Auchinleck, East Ayrshire.
A non-exclusive health and wellness destination, Barony Wellness will provide active health and mental relaxation facilities, accessible and affordable to all. Believed to be the first true nature-based wellbeing destination in Europe, this will allow guests to be close to the healing powers of nature, an ideal location for this given its natural beauty.
This consultation is part of the pre-application planning process and is an opportunity for the wider public to learn more about the development and to provide valuable feedback, which can help shape it.
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), required by East Ayrshire Council, will be submitted as part of the application for planning permission in principle (PPiP), together with more evidential geotechnical and engineering information. This will focus specifically on the ground conditions of the ‘bing’, and its suitability for the development of lightweight guest accommodation and facilities.
The £60 million development, if consented, will stimulate economic growth, delivering significant inward investment and create around 400 much-needed local jobs, including 30 for vulnerable local individuals.
We welcome your feedback and views to help assist us in further developing the Barony site as an opportunity for the surrounding communities.
Two in-person consultation events will be held, the first taking place on Tuesday 27th June between 4pm and 7.30pm at Ochiltree Community Hub, 45 Main Street, Ochiltree, KA18 2PE.
A second will take place at on Wednesday 2nd August between 4pm and 7.30pm at The Boswell Centre, 18 Well Road, Auchinleck KA18 2LA.
Exhibition boards outlining the development will be available to view, and there will be the opportunity to provide feedback, with the development team available to answer any questions you might have.
These boards will also be available to view on the website from 9am on Tuesday 27th June.
